AAS is pleased to offer BAS Online subscriptions for individuals. This is the same fully searchable database that has until now been available only to organizations. It contains the full content of the annual printed publications from 1971–1991, plus numerous citations from more recent years, offering (as of June 2008) a total of close to 708,000 citations.

The annual rate for individuals is $75 for members and $125 for non-members. You may subscribe by filling out the form above or by sending your request with a check or Visa/MasterCard account number to the Association for Asian Studies at the Ann Arbor address. (NOTE: All subscriptions must be prepaid, and all checks must be written in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank. We do not accept bank transfers as payment for this item.)

When a subscriber signs on to the database, he/she will be asked for a “user name.” Since a subscriber’s “user name” is always his/her e-mail address, the e-mail address you submit to us should be relatively permanent. If you change your e-mail address, you will be denied access to the database until we are notified and revise the way your account is set up.

Once your subscription is activated, your ID number and database access instructions will be sent to you via e-mail. Such notification will come within two weeks of our receiving your payment. Please do not attempt to use the BAS Online until after you are notified of activation. When you first enter the URL, you will provide your user name (i.e., e-mail address) and your ID number, and you will be asked to create your own password (a minimum of six characters in length). In subsequent searches, only the user name and password will be required.

Two months prior to the end of the subscription year, each subscriber will be notified that the subscription is up for renewal. The system will automatically deny access to anyone who does not renew by the end of the subscription period.

Before you subscribe as an individual, you may wish to check to see if your institution is a current organizational subscriber, at http://www.aasianst.org/basorg.htm#subscribers

Questions? BAS Online Customer Support: If you are considering a subscription—or if you have a current subscription and are having trouble accessing the database—please contact Lisa Hanselman; Tel: (734) 665-2490; Fax: (734) 665-3801; E-Mail: lhanselman@aasianst.org.

PLEASE NOTE: Individual subscriptions to the BAS Online are intended for the sole use of the individual subscriber. Sharing of a single subscription by more than one individual is prohibited and may result in the termination of subscription.
