[ BACK to BAS Organizational Subscription Main Page ]
Welcome to librarians who are considering subscribing to the online BAS, and all others. In this space we will report any news of potential interest to subscribers.
On these pages you will find an online subscription agreement (i.e., the license), fee schedule, and order form.
You may return completed forms by e-mail (to Lisa Hanselman, lhanselman@aasianst.org) or download them, print them out, and return by mail or fax to (734) 665-3801. Even if submitting by e-mail or fax, please additionally send two signed hard copies of the licensing subscription agreement via regular mail (one will be returned to you with our signature). An agreement must be signed for each member institution in a consortium (to be collected by a designated Consortium Coordinator).
An institution may allow access to subsidiary units on remote sites so long as they are directly administered by the main campus and do not have their own administration.
With regard to subscriptions through agents, libraries subscribing on their own are welcome to do so through a subscription agent. We offer a commission of five percent. However, all consortia subscriptions must be made through the Consortium Coordinator, not an agent. The discounts offered to consortia are partly because management is less complicated than when each institution subscribes separately.
With regard to the online subscription agreement and our policy toward licensing: this version was adapted from the form used by the American Mathematical Society to license its online journal database called MathSciNet. The main adaptations were to incorporate language preferred by various library groups regarding "fair use," and to soften the institution's responsibility for preventing unauthorized usage (requiring "reasonable and appropriate measures"). The liability provisions may be softened further if our legal advice indicates that is safe. We welcome additional suggestions.
