2007 AAS Meeting

Placement Service Procedures

This service will be updated until March 31, 2008.

VIEW JOB OPENINGS

1. Job openings for which interviews will be conducted in Atlanta will be listed online. These postings should be the same length and format as normal classified ads and be sent to Anne Arizala at aarizala@aasianst.org. Job postings for this section are free but are restricted to those for which institutions will be conducting interviews at the AAS annual meeting in Atlanta. Even if an opening has been previously advertised by AAS through a paid classified ad, institutions must resubmit the opening for inclusion in the special interview section of the website.

2. Candidates should submit resumes directly to institutions (not to AAS) before the meeting.

3. Institutions should contact those candidates they wish to interview and set up mutually agreeable interview times.

4. Institutions should notify the Anne Arizala, aarizala@aasianst.org between March 3 and March 31, 2008 so that interview space can be allocated and scheduled in advance of the meeting. Interview slots will be limited to one-hour blocks of time. Interview rooms are limited in number and requests will be handled on a first-come first-served basis. Institutions should also indicate if they will be available to interview “walk-in” candidates, so that an “active” file can be created and maintained.

5. As in the past, all job openings, (including late openings and/or those not advertised on the AAS website) will be posted on Message Boards in the Placement area. Candidates who wish to apply on-site to one or more postings must submit individual resumes to AAS staff for specific postings, who will forward them to the relevant interviewers. Candidates should bring multiple copies of their resume to the meeting.

6. Interviewers, in turn, will regularly check their job files on-site for resumes and arrange to interview candidates by either contacting them directly, or by leaving messages on the Placement Message Board. While we will try to accommodate as many “walk-in” interviews as possible, priority will be given to pre-arranged interviews and time slots will be limited by booth availability. Interviewers and candidates may therefore need to arrange interviews outside the Placement facilities.

All questions should be directed to Anne Arizala via e-mail at aarizala@aasianst.org or by phone at (734) 665-2490.
