This roundtable will address the use of popular culture in the classroom. Educators of all levels increasingly use popular culture as a lens through with to introduce or broaden teaching on Asian topics. What issues arise when students are introduced to Japanese Manga, Philipino films or Indian films? How can these materials be tied into wider social, economic, cultural and geographical themes? This roundtable will address these and other issues.
