This roundtable will present a complete picture of the state of Japanese language education in North America and elsewhere. Presenters will summarize and distribute newly compiled data on programs and enrollments; review the situations and problems in other countries based on interviews, data, and a newly published international encyclopedia of Japanese language education; and discuss the factors that inspire and challenge educators of Japanese and other less commonly taught languages in North America.
