We have launched new initiatives to broaden the Association’s outreach and effectiveness in a rapidly globalizing world. And now, more then ever, we need your generous financial support!
Since 1941, the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) has provided a network connecting scholars and others interested in the study of Asia. Today, it counts among its 7,000 members scholars, business people, diplomats, journalists, NGO workers, and interested lay persons. It is open to all persons interested in Asia.
As we approach our 70th anniversary, we recognize the need to explore new ways to internationalize our work and new ways to engage a younger generation of scholars and others interested in Asia.
The AAS already provides a wide range of services. Among other services, the AAS:
- Hosts the largest annual scholarly meeting devoted to the study of Asia.
- Publishes The Journal of Asian Studies, the most respected journal in the field.
- Publishes a range of scholarly and teaching resources including Education About Asia and Key Issues in Asian Studies.
- Organizes dissertation workshops for graduate students and provides other assistance.
But we recognize that new initiatives and experiments are needed if the AAS is to continue to be the “go-to” place for the study of Asia in the 21st century.
