Scheduled Thematic Feature Sections

[ EAA Homepage | Author Guidelines | Editorial Office | Main Table of Contents | Subscribe ]

The "Features" section of each issue of Education About Asia will address a specific theme (see below for a listing of scheduled themes).

Prospective authors of feature-length articles are strongly advised to be aware of the focus of each thematic issue before developing a manuscript. Although feature articles that are unrelated to the theme of a given issue will occasionally be published, it is probable that there will often be a long time lapse between acceptance of these types of manuscripts and their publication.

Prospective authors should bear in mind, however, that the "Resources" section of EAA will continue to include essays and reviews about a variety of topics. Authors are welcome to submit resource essays and reviews on topics dealing with any aspect of Asia.

Regardless of the type of article a prospective author is considering submitting, he or she should carefully read the author guidelines.

As is the case with all manuscripts, please send electronic versions to the EAA editorial office at edast@utc.edu.

Thematic Issue Publication Schedule

  • Fall 2008 (13:2): World History: 1750–1914
This is the fourth special section in a series based upon the “eras” included in The National World History Standards. The deadline for receipt of manuscripts for this special section has now passed.

  • Winter 2008 (13:3): Teaching about Asia through Youth Culture
In this special section, it is hoped that articles will be published where authors develop manuscripts that will enable teachers and students to better understand how popular culture influences young people in Asia and perceptions of Asia among young people elsewhere. We are seeking manuscripts about all areas of Asia. Although we welcome manuscripts on various aspects of youth culture, we are particularly interested in the ways that digital communications, entertainment, and education are affecting Asian youth, intercultural contact, and globalization. The deadline for initial receipt of manuscripts for this special section is August 20, 2008.
For further information, please see the Call for Manuscripts.

  • Spring 2009 (14:1): History, Literature, and the Construction of “Memory” in Asia
How do academic and popular historical narratives and works of literature influence the way Asians perceive their past and those of other cultures? The deadline for initial receipt of manuscripts for this special section is December 20, 2008.

  • Fall 2009 (14:2): Asian Intercultural Contacts: Diasporas and Minorities
